Because it is a Professional sport in France , Germany & Spain where they all have the top club teams in Europe. On top of that Handball is an international sport played throughout Europe in the above mentioned countries as well as Eastern Europe & especially the Scandinavian countries in addition to South Korea & North Africa.
Besides being in the Olympics Handball also has a World Championship every 2 years & a European Championship as well.
What this has to do with YAHOO is many of the above mentioned countries have their own sections on YAHOO INTERNATIONAL where everybody gets the same categories. In other words Spain, France & Germany gets an American Football & Baseball category & English users get Handball.
